I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who didn’t like Fridays. One of my colleagues remarked one day (as she was trying to convince me that I should take a sick day), that I was better off getting better for the weekend because weekends are for living and we ‘work’ to live. I don’t know why, but that never really occurred to me. I mean, it’s great to have weekends as a time to relax and recuperate from a hard week at work, but I often feel like I’m more ‘alive’ during the week. Maybe I just love my job too much!
Whilst I’m not too keen on orange flavoured things, I do love splashes of orange in my wardrobe–with a preference for a clear, bright orange rather than a muted rust. I like the fizzy pop of bright orange especially since summer is coming, but I love the colour during winter too, where wearing black and grey can make me feel a bit depressed. I was pretty ecstatic last year when Karen Walker had loads of orange in her Spring/ Summer collection, and this is one of my favourite dresses. I’m a fan of frills and this dress ticked all the boxes in the detail department. And of course, the cute whale print is fun too. The dress also has a dropped waist which lengthens my short torso. Speaking of which, my husband never quite believes that I have (proportionately) long legs. I know that I may be just under 5ft tall, but I swear–my legs are longer than the top half of my body, as I have pretty much no waist to speak of!
My hair is in a bit of a state at the moment. I thought I was going to grow it long, but when it grows to just below my shoulders it’s so thick and slippery that it’s impossible to style. I also don’t have photo-shop capabilities to make it appear ‘perfect.’ So, yeah I’m contemplating chopping it short again. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think I should do with it!
Accessories: The sterling silver necklace (similar) was bought a couple of years ago from a pre-Christmas pop-up store of local jewelers around Wellington. I love the texture–it’s a cast of a kind of pod I think. The gold ‘Wonders‘ platform/wedges (similar) were also a purchase made last year from I Love Paris, and are super comfortable. They feel like what I imagine wearing Hush Puppies would be like. I can walk around for miles. The envelope bag (Asos) is the only recently purchased item. It’s a good size for work, plus it’s genuine leather. And as for the coloured stockings…it’s simply too cold for bare legs yet!
