There is plenty to love about this collection with its individual pieces that will easily adapt into any wardrobe. I’m a fan of the sharper lines and structured pieces which come in the form of blazers, minimalist tunics and clean-line shirt dresses (especially as a petite), although I do love the striking over-sized cocoon shaped coats which are simultaneously bold, yet understated. And yes, the one thing I do notice about the collection is length— longer being de rigueur and oh so elegant, but slightly tricky if you’re on the smaller side.
The New Zealand label’s 15th collection ‘Solid Light’ combines playfulness with versatility—catering also for the Northern Hemisphere, heavier shades of dark smoke and black sit in contrast with lighter sky blues, teals and crisp whites. Kowtow’s limited edition Mirror wall print (bound to be a hit) also takes on edgier shades of gold and tar on smoke, with a more feminine pastel alternative available in blush/ peach hues—the latter having me jump for joy and wishing for walks in the park, summertime picnics and a pair of worn-looking metallic Oxfords.
Great pieces are on offer for men—they too have a chance to play with the statement Mirror wall print, relaxed white and navy jersey stripes and curved over-sized tailoring.Whether you’re after an easy weekend t-shirt or relax-fit pant, a feminine skirt or statement print to liven up your wardrobe, there is something in this collection for everyone. And need I say more about Kowtow’s boiler suit which comes in both black and the pastel Mirror wall print. It’s an on trend item that is accessible, clean and ultimately modern. But for all this and more, you’ll have to wait patiently for ‘Solid Light’ which launches this August. In the meantime check out Kowtow’s website for their current season’s looks.
