Oh god, you might say, ‘Not another Stila lipstick!’
What can I say? I’m a creature of habit, because why ruin a good thing?
Whilst I have tried many other brands, Stila ‘Stay all Day Liquid Lipstick’ does exactly what the name suggests: it packs a punch on staying power and has intense pigmentation to boot. Plus, it lasts for ages.
Although winter is ordinarily about those darker or muted tones, I’m all for bringing bright colours into the mix to keep the winter blues at bay.
I popped into Mecca Cosmetica a couple of weeks ago to replenish my other favourite—Hourglass Opaque Rouge in ‘Canvas’—which, since my post here (where I exclaimed my undying love for the same lippy in ‘Rose’) has since surpassed my expectations. It didn’t look quite right with my summer tan, but now it’s the perfect shade of nude.
Alas, I digress. Back to Stila and my new colour Venezia.
Having taken it upon myself to ask one of the girls at the cosmetics counter what colour she was wearing (in the most delectable shade of bright strawberry/coral I have ever seen), she directs me over to a new range of 5 lip colours released by my all time favourite brand. I was so ecstatic that I walked away having purchased it without even testing it first!
I’m smitten with the new gold packaging, and the colour is one that I’ve been searching for for a few months now. The formulation is the same as my previous versions in Beso (worn here) and Tesoro. What I have discovered though, is that because the colour is lighter it seems to wear a lot more evenly, especially after eating. In fact, I even think it’s somehow much more moisturizing than the previous two.
If you’re not usually into bright lipstick I would recommend this one, because it’s bright without being too over-the-top. And, might I add, it looks equally good on light-haired girls as it does on dark-haired beauties, and I figure it would be stunning on a red head too!
