It’s akin to that first kiss that you’ll never experience ever again; a warm home-cooked meal when you’ve been eating take-out for a month, or the squeal of delight when you slip into a bed of freshly laundered crisp sheets and dream-time becomes a place that you want to languish in, well, forever…
That’s how I feel about these jeans. They’re the second skin that I never knew I needed. Not only do they fit like a glove, but they’re as soft as silk (or my most comfortable pyjamas), and feel like they’ve always been mine.
I recently took the leap to get myself a pair of MiH jeans after an overly long obsession with the London-based brand. MiH pride themselves in distinctive denim collections with signature washes, and the perfect fit.
Whether you’re a rock chick, bohemian or vintage lover, trendsetter, tomboy or lady-like sophisticate there are cuts to suit every body type and washes that will cater to whatever your denim persona demands.
Headed by Chloe Lonsdale, a graduate of Central St Martins and daughter to denim royalty—her father Tony and mother Chekkie (a fashion model) ran iconic UK store the The Jean Machine in the 1970’s, and eventually launched their own denim line ‘Made in Heaven.’
The cut of Chloe’s cloth is 70’s denim revisited, and she takes direct inspiration from her parents Made in Heaven label with offerings of it’s 50-year heritage, where it all began.
What I love about MiH jeans is the way in which denim is re-imagined: modern with a vintage take on covetable, timeless classic cuts.
Among their collection of denim you’ll also find lovely staples; denim shirt dresses, pinafores, jumpsuits, jackets, coats and blazers, knits, and cotton shirts that are clean-cut with a dash of laid-back bohemian.
I opted for the cropped 1973 slim leg ‘Paris Jean’ in cole blue; knowing that by cropped they would be a standard length on me and that I wouldn’t be swimming in an additional foot-length worth of fabric. However, I did decide to have them altered to achieve a cropped look, which luckily didn’t change the cut (as invariably happens when you have to chop a quarter of the trousers off at the hem to accommodate for a lack of height. Boohoo!).
The wash is flattering and the cut is perfect for layering. I ordered in my usual size and can attest to these being the most luxurious jeans I have ever owned. MiH have stolen my heart. These are jeans that I look forward to wearing and never want to take off…
