With only a couple of weeks left to wade our way through winter, we can almost breathe a sigh of relief as we welcome in the warmer months. I have no idea where August has gone—in my head, I’ve already leapt to the end of the month—and winter hasn’t been as treacherous as I would have expected.
Needless to say, the days are disappearing faster than I can keep track.
Alas, I will be sad to say goodbye to my trusty wool coat and this dress has helped me to break out of the doldrums of dark, dreary days.
As you read in my last outfit post, I am very fond of longer dresses and skirts at the moment. They just feel appropriate and I almost cringe to see anything in my wardrobe that sits above the knee, but summer may very well change all of that…
This midi dress has a lovely gold thread through it and I like the weight of the wool. Again, a midi dress is always that much longer on me, yet I think it’s a bit more flattering to keep the length for a more streamlined look, rather than chopping a great chunk off the hem. The dress also came in blue—my first choice off the rack—yet after trying on both, I opted for the yellow because the blue was slightly duller than expected.
I love the way that this dress looks with a longer coat on top. The latter was bought last winter and it’s been the optimum protection against Wellington’s horizontal rain; where the wind pushes it right through you and almost sweeps you off your feet. The bright yellow lining is a great feature that always lifts my mood.
So, it’s a week out from New Zealand Fashion Week. I have a lot to organise with tech gear that I’ll be lugging up to Auckland.
In my imagination, I’m holding on to a clutch bag to match my outfit.
The reality: I’ll be a 5-ft woman weighted beneath recording gear, a camera—with two lenses and a flash—two cell phones, a monopod and a 15” MAC, respective chargers x 3. But wait, there’s more! Sigh. Seriously…It may be near impossible for me to look halfway decent, should anyone actually catch a glimpse of me behind all of that equipment.
Endeavouring to counteract my aforementioned problem, I’ve been searching for the perfect carryall to see me through the week, and yesterday I found one. Hooray! Photos to come next weekend…
In the meantime, have a great week! x
