Loving and loathing is the slap dash post that lets me put it all out there…
I love having a little less weight on my head—short hair is great, especially in this heat. I have very thick, coarse Asian hair that is a nightmare to dry and I’m not a fan of having it strangle me in my sleep. Like, it’s so coarse, if you come too close it’ll take your eye out!
Willis York hairdressing—ask for Bex or Daniel. If you don’t live in Wellington and feel like it’s time for a new look ask for recommendations when you see someone’s hair that you like the look of.
Wellington weather has been bordering on tropical over the past couple of days and it feels like a miracle that it’s even reached 26 degrees. I no longer have to wish that I lived in Auckland.
90s Winona Ryder—for her effortless style and I’ll always love that pixie face—in fact, I actually wanted to be her. Thinking of Winona brings me back to the time I broke up with my boyfriend and watched Reality Bites three times in a row. Oh wait, it was probably more like five. Johnny Depp was right when he tattooed ‘Winona Forever’ on his arm.
Twenty Seven Names just released their first drop of AW16 pieces. Get in quick before sizes sell out. Their coats and blazers are classics that will see you through season after season. There are some wool and linen pieces to die for. I’m currently tossing up between the Emin blazer and the Robin blazer (this one has more buttons and lovely welt pockets). Both will be great transeasonal staples and I’ve been meaning to find the right one to make my ‘tomboy suit’ a reality.
Creative conversations with like-minded people fuel and inspire me and I have plans in the works for some exciting fashion-related projects this year.
iD Fashion week is happening next month. I’m excited about attending and there are some interesting international candidates, so I’ll let you know my favourites in the weeks to come.
Who isn’t a fan of long weekends? I’ve just started back at work this week and already I’m in for a long weekend in a few days time. #Waitangiday
Starting back at work after a month and a half of leave—I was extremely stressed last week in the lead-up and ended up working for part of it in order to feel vaguely on top of things this week. It worked, and means I’ve accumulated some time in lieu. Hooray!
My consistent inconsistency: I need to start planning and scheduling my blog post days, but to be honest, writing when I’m inspired feels so much better than forcing myself to sit down and write after a long day at work.
Having to keep the windows closed at home on these sweltering hot days because we have a Ragdoll kitten who is not allowed to be left outside. We tried it and he has made attempts never to return—they’re also not the smartest of cats, so chances are he may well get hit by a car…which means we’d actually be able to open our windows again. Now there’s a thought!
I really have to do another wardrobe clear out and the thought is killing me. There are some pieces I swore I’d keep forever, but I feel like its time to move on. Thank God for sisters who are more than happy to have my hand-me-downs.
With an ever-increasing workload, meetings suck the life out of my enthusiasm. I’d much rather be meeting deadlines without having to cut it fine because there have been far too many meetings called in one week.
Rules: I know we need them, but I’m in the mood to break them, whatever they are.
