Many bags make light work and if you’re anything like me and you’re forever foraging around in a bag so deep that you might lose an arm in the process, then look no further.
Empire of Genius is a cool new luxury label, and Wellington designer Tymone Winter has just answered all of my prayers with these two bags (below) which are my top picks from her newly released Chain Gang collection.
Step aside minimalism because in the case of the Inception Set ‘more is more’ and in my mind it’s the ultimate Empire of Genius combo. This bag could get a serious workout during long days at New Zealand Fashion Week where form and function are of equal importance. I mean, who knew that three purses attached to a series of chains could look so damn stylish?
There’s a pouch for your sunglasses, a separate one for your coins or love notes (wink, wink) and one for your cell phone/ passport. You can carry as much — or as little —as you need and it’s all strapped to you which makes it the perfect travel companion, or your go-to bag when you need to transition from work to play. I’m in love with the rock n’ roll metal hardware. There’s also a silver hardware option, if you prefer.
Utility is key throughout the Chain Gang collection and the Gee Glam Belt Bag (below) is no exception. The belt strap can be worn just like any other shoulder strap on a conventional bag, which makes it ever so versatile. And you can also buy the purse with a single belt rather than the double belt (pictured). And what’s not to love about the vintage turn-lock closure? It reminds me of my Mum’s purses and bags when I was a kid. Nawww.
Nostalgia aside, I love this equally as much as the Inception trio because it’s a completely different look and this pouch is bigger than the smaller purses. Just between you and me: I never thought I’d EVER conceive of the day that I’d wear a belt bag, but the Gee Glam ups the ante on all bags, hands down!
Yep, I’m convinced that I’d throw all of my other bags away tomorrow — well, I’d recycle them – because Empire of Genius has got me hooked…like a ball and chain.
